Kendallville, Indiana – The City of Kendallville has been recognized as one of the top micropolitan areas in the United States, ranking 39th in Site Selection magazine’s 2024 list of Top Micropolitans. This prestigious ranking highlights Kendallville’s economic growth, investment, and business development, further solidifying its status as a thriving community within Noble County.
Each year, Site Selection magazine ranks Micropolitan Statistical Areas—defined by the White House Office of Management and Budget as urban areas with populations between 10,000 and 49,999 that demonstrate significant economic and social integration with surrounding regions. For 2024, 125 micropolitan areas from 29 states earned spots on the list.
To qualify, cities needed at least two economic development projects meeting one or more of the following criteria: a minimum $1 million investment, the creation of 20 new jobs, or the development of at least 20,000 square feet of new or expanded facility space.

Kendallville, the largest city in Noble County, had a population of 10,222 as of the 2022 census. Founded in 1849 and named after Amos Kendall, the 8th U.S. Postmaster General, Kendallville has grown into a vibrant and welcoming community. The city offers exceptional parks and outdoor recreational facilities, strong public and private schools, numerous service organizations, and quality healthcare through Parkview Noble Hospital. Kendallville’s historic downtown, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, features unique specialty shops, restaurants, and a historic movie theater, all of which contribute to the city’s charm and appeal.
