The Ligonier Redevelopment Commission (RDC) acquired 27.59 acres of property located just south of the city along US 33, the Lincoln Highway, with visions for new housing development.

In April 2023, the Community Foundation of Noble County accepted an offer from the RDC to acquire the property, which included a residence that served as the offices for the foundation for many years. Since the property changed hands, that structure has been demolished in a move to make way for new residences to be constructed.

At their meeting in early June, the RDC heard about the services and tools available from Housing Resource Hub. Heather Presley-Cowen and Ryan Chasey provided an overview of the opportunities “the Hub” can bring to the table to potentially expand the scope of potential developers, assist in building capital stacks needed to develop, and assist home buyers with financing.

This “catalyst site” is one of two in Noble County that have surfaced since Be Noble Inc. partnered with the Hub to identify the county’s Housing Market Potential and develop a Housing Strategy to help overcome the challenges of new residential development.
