The Noble County Convention and Visitors Bureau has released a new report on the 2021 Economic Contribution of Tourism in Noble County. The report was commissioned by the Indiana Destination Development Commission.

Traveler spending supported 279 local jobs, contributing about $6.4 million to pay wages, in 2021. The most compelling data indicates that although tourism represented just 1.5% of overall employment in Noble County, the sector had the highest rate of growth of all sectors at 18.3%.

In many ways, the positive report comes as no surprise given the abundance of outdoor amenities in Noble County, including Chain O’Lakes State Park. In 2020, during a year when residents and visitors sought out outdoor activities and avoided crowds, the county’s top attraction experienced record visitor numbers. Numbers remained very strong again in 2021. Noble County is also home to multiple nature preserves, trails, public access sites, and other outdoor recreation opportunities that promise to “rejuvenate” and draw visitors who also support local retail establishments.
