More than four of every ten workers living in Noble County work outside of Noble County, according to the most recent data available on commuting patterns. With gas prices painfully high, long work commutes are sure to have a significant impact on many local households. At the same time, unemployment in Noble County remains low and employers in all sectors continue to struggle with a lack of workers.

Be Noble Inc., Noble County’s local economic development organization, launched a social media ad campaign this week to help raise awareness of the dozens of Noble County employers looking to fill jobs. The website, www.worknoble.org, serves as a portal for workers to find jobs in Noble County that pay at least $15 per hour (most pay significantly more, up to $39 per hour). At the time Be Noble’s campaign was launched, the website featured more than 35 employers across the county and links to explore and apply for more than 450 jobs they are looking to fill. The site provides options to locate employers geographically, by sector, and by employer name. Each employer provides information on how to learn about jobs available and apply.

A shortage of housing options, despite the continued housing construction projects in multiple communities, continues to be an obstacle to attracting more residents to grow the workforce. Be Noble saw an opportunity to instead target people already living here to consider opportunities to work closer to home, a move that can strengthen the local economy, retain businesses, and support households.

The campaign will run on Facebook and Instagram through July 7, 2022. Employers who meet eligibility requirements may submit job profiles on the website. The service is free but limited only to Noble County employers promoting jobs that pay at least $15 per hour.
