Plans to annex a 72-lot subdivision in Kendallville moved one step closer to reality when the Kendallville Common Council passed an annexation resolution on September 16.
The 35.6-acre property, where Lancia Homes plans to construct new homes expected to sell for $150,000 to $250,000, is located adjacent to South Side Elementary School along Sherman Street, close to Bixler Lake. The developer involved in the project said in January the plan is to build 56 single-family homes and 14 villa-style retirement homes.
The next step in the process is for the city to officially annex the property. That process will take an additional 90 days in order to meet legal requirements for annexation.
